Why does NeoOffice need donations?
With each new NeoOffice release, the number of NeoOffice downloads and the number of users posting to our support and testing forums keeps increasing. The bandwidth, machines, and webhosting fees that are needed to support our free downloads and forums cost real money. Not only do we spend several thousand dollars each year to keep all of the NeoOffice infrastructure running, but the two creators of NeoOffice work more than 2500 hours of their time each year writing the NeoOffice code.
You can donate funds online using a credit card or a PayPal account. Even though we use PayPal as our credit card processor, please note that a PayPal account is not required when using a credit card. Just click on the following button to make a donation:

For large donations (e.g. US$250 or greater) we are able to accept checks or electronic payments. If you would like to make a large donation, please contact us directly at the following e-mail address: donationsupport at neooffice dot org.
While we would like to accept other methods of payment for small donations, we have found that for small donations other payment providers can charge large processing fees (sometimes up to 50%) for each donation. Also, for small donations sent directly to us, we have found that a significant portion of each donation can get used up by a bank fees and administrative tasks. Since our purpose is to use donations to fund NeoOffice development and support, we use PayPal as their low payment processing fees leave most of your donation available for NeoOffice.

Why did I get an e-mail from PayPal?
PayPal is our credit card processor so if you donated using a credit card, you will get a payment confirmation e-mail from PayPal. To ensure the safety of your credit card data, PayPal never allows us to see it. This is one reason we use PayPal as our credit card processor.
All sellers that accept credit cards use a credit card processor and by using PayPal you can see who our credit card processor is. More importantly, since PayPal never lets us see your credit card number, we do not store any of your credit card information. The only information that PayPal lets us see is your e-mail address and the amount of your donation and we do not share that information with anyone.
What will NeoOffice.org do with my donated funds?
The cost and time spent on NeoOffice are trivial for a large corporation, but they are very large for the two people that operate the NeoOffice project so donations are used to help pay for NeoOffice cash expenses like bandwidth, machines, and webhosting fees that we would have to pay for ourselves.
Since developing and supporting a project as large as NeoOffice requires the two creators of NeoOffice to work more than 2500 hours of their time each year, we use any excess funds to subsidize the work of the NeoOffice developers.
If you have more time than money and want to help NeoOffice, there are many ways that you can help:
Create a bug in Bugzilla and attach a patch using the "cvs diff -u" format. Be sure to put the actual license and copyright information in the header of each patched file so that we can determine if we can release your patch under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
The existing NeoOffice committers will review your patch and, if we don't find any code, license, or copyright problems, we will commit it to the NeoOffice CVS repository.
